I had a chance to visit Cape Flattery right before covid hit in 2020 and Neah Bay locked down it’s community. It’s a beautiful area and absolutely worth the hike but here’s a few notes.
- Don’t go in bad conditions. You won’t enjoy it. It’s the Northern Most point of the contiguous USA and the winds there are terrifying in bad weather. Absolutely do not go if the weather is not at least partially clear and somewhat calm.
- Expend wind regardless. Bring a jacket. You’ll be cold.
- It’s a short walk but there’s not much for gas stations / restaurants in the are so eat before you go, or at least check a map so you know where you can stop.
- Stay on the trails. There’s no lifeguard. The logs in the tide and the water WILL KILL YOU.

And here’s a photo flashback, the photo was taken en route to Cape Flattery actually…
The Light In The Trees

A photograph I took while out driving a tow truck on a slightly hazy day.
