So I’ve been waiting on the new season like everyone else. And while I find the whole “culling game” thing a little too contrived (much like the Dressrossa arc battle in One Piece). Like sure we like seeing our favorite guys spar and seeing new powers… but that’s what regular stories are for.

That complaint aside, the new episode are interesting. It’s my #3 go to show this season. The first two being Fate and Hell’s Paradise. Yuji is an interesting character in that in a lot of ways he isn’t a pure rebel like say Kaneda or a weakling like Shinji, but somewhere inbetween. For a guy with so much magical power, he is very weak.

SPOILERS

There’s really two fights in this episode. Panda and Megumi vs Kirara which wraps up pretty quickly. And then Hakari vs Yuji which is the last, and most brutal fight in the episode. Yuji takes the blows as part of his teamwork, but it’s exessive self punishment. Is this how the author deals with Yuji having so much power? By making him ultra-humble? Perhaps. Time will tell.

Overall, still loving the series.
