“Wyrd” features a lot of Muslim talent

1–2 minutes

To read

So I’m back to writing my story “Wyrd” that deals with anti-Arab racism / discrimination against Muslims and while I have not asked a single freelancer what their religion is, I’m hiring quite a few people from high density Muslim areas. So this is actually quite cool and fits.

So at least if I get paid there are Muslim talents getting paid / attention along with me. It doesn’t shield me from making goofy mistakes, I remind myself that as an American I’ve been subjected to decades of anti-Arab / Anti-Muslim propaganda whether I’ve resisted it or not. But at least I don’t feel like I’m just snatching someone else’s flame. This rising tide lifts all boats. As well as it can anyway.

It’s a bit too early to tell you what “Wyrd” is so I won’t here. You will find out as soon as chapter one drops, then I’ll be more forthcoming. As the author I have to let you read it, not blab all the details in press releases.

On a similar note, since I do have an African Goddess character. I went out of my way to find a Black comic book artist to design her for me. That was 100% intentional. It’s something I’ve heard Black creators / Black media fans call for through decades of just existing on this planet. It will be obvious which character when she debuts but I’m keeping her name secret until then. And yes, when they asked me to upgrade to design this character I paid what they asked.

I hope you enjoy what I got cooking, because it’s time to raise the flame beyond simmer.
